CBSE -Setting Education Standards in India
CBSE is one of the important and highly recognized school education board exam in India. CBSE was formed in1952, but its originally was set up in 1921 along with Secondary Education and U.P Board of High school. CBSE course material imparts a common education in India which is a democratic country with diverse heritage and culture and. It has set a common standard for all the states forming the country. CBSE makes efforts in providing a standard education in today''s fast changing world and at the same time do not compromise on the quality of education. Recently it has introduced the financial market management course.
The CBSE develops the course material for Class 9 to Class 12 for schools associated with it. Two examinations are conducted every year-All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) for Class 10 and - All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for Class 12, which is the final year of school. Both these CBSE exams are major school exams. Many schools in India and even abroad are CBSE affiliated. It also prescribes the course material for these examinations, and its scores are essential for getting admission in the institutes of higher education. The medium of instruction prescribed by CBSE for these exams is English or Hindi. CBSE All India Senior School Certificate Examination for Class 12 is recognized internationally for admissions to undergraduate university courses.
There are about 9,700 schools in India and abroad which are CBSE affiliated. The Delhi Board of Secondary Education merged with Central Board and all the Delhi Board recognized academic institutions became a part of the Central Board. All the schools in the Chandigarh Union Territory, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh and the state of Sikkim are now affiliated with the school Board. The Board initially had 309 schools in 1962 but as on 25.9.98, 5119 schools, which include 785 kendriya Vidyalayas, 1380 Government Schools, 2485 Independent Schools, 355 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and 13 Adhoc Schools. Indian schools in Southeast Asia and the Middle East are also affiliated to CBSE Board. Irrespective of the geographical locations and variations, the schools and students of CBSE share and enjoy a common course material, examinations and academic innovations of CBSE.
